Coriander Seed essential oil has been proven effective against E. coli, bacteria which often plays a role in irritable bowel syndrome. In a study reported by the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, coriander essential oil was shown to be more effective than the antibiotic rifaximin in combating E. coli.
